DataFile Technologies Sponsors The American Lung Association of Kansas & Greater Kansas City LUNG Force Glam Event

Several members of the DataFile Technologies team attended The American Lung Association of Kansas & Greater Kansas City LUNG Force Glam event on May 18th, 2017. DataFile was a sponsoring organization, and sent ten people to represent a commitment to community involvement.

The event was a mix of a great time and the chance to learn some sobering truth about the devastating impact of Lung Cancer.

Imagine hearing that someone has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The first response is often: “Was he/she a smoker?” – as if the answer to such a question even matters when someone has been diagnosed with cancer.

It is this type of unkind stigma that has allowed lung cancer to remain the number one death-causing cancer in the United States.

For instance, did you know lung cancer:

  • Is the number one cause of death by cancer in the United States.
  • Kills more than 3X the number of Americans than Breast Cancer.
  • In fact, you can add up the next four cancers and still not equal the number of deaths caused by lung cancer in the United States.

Lung cancer is a serious disease that deserves a greater focus.

The event touched each of us who were lucky enough to attend.

“…the main speaker really touched me. Her speech made me realize I need to live my life to the fullest.” – Marcianna Chavez, DataFile Technologies, ROI Account Service Representative

“Although I went for the camaraderie, I came away in awe of Christy’s battle with lung cancer: she’s beat stage 4 lung cancer three times now! WOW!” – Lisa McCamy, DataFile Technologies, Software Solutions Engineer

“It was a great event honoring and supporting the American Lung Association’s mission to find the cure for lung cancer while enjoying time with fellow DFT Team members.  DFT is especially honored to support and donate on behalf of Isabel McNutt’s 7-year-old daughter Julianna, who was born with one lung.  She is truly Isabel’s miracle baby!” – Jean Hansen, DataFile Technologies, COO
